Univision tries Turkish series for weeknight lineup

Amor Eterno

Turkish novela fever has reached Univision. For the first time ever, the network is adding a Turkish series to its weeknight programming lineup.

“Amor Eterno,” the first Turkish scripted series to win an International Emmy in 2017, will air at 7 pm. That’s in the timeslot Univision has previously reserved for family-oriented programming.

Although this is a romantic drama, Univision claims it’s “appropriate for the time period.”

Univision follows Telemundo in trying out the popular Turkish drama format, which has been extremely successful in Latin America. But Telemundo’s airing of period piece novela “La Sultana” did not beat its rival in the timeslot during its October to December 2018 run.
