Meruelo Media adds KLOS and KXOS radio stations to portfolio

Meruelo Media announced it has closed its purchase of Los Angeles FM radio stations 95.5 KLOS and 93.9 KXOS, effective today, July 17, 2019.

The company bought 95.5 KLOS from Cumulus Media Inc. and 93.9 KXOS from Grupo Radio Centro, expanding its radio portfolio, which also includes KPWR 106 FM, 93.5 KDAY/KDEY-FM.

KLOS’s operations will relocate from Culver City to Meruelo Media’s Burbank facility later this year. KXOS is already operating there.

Meruelo Media’s current executive team is taking the reins of KLOS’s operations. Otto Padrón will step in as interim Market Manager. Tomás Trujillo will oversee day-to-day operations. David Criscitelli, VP of Meruelo Media Client Solutions, will lead sales, and Dianna Jason, VP of Marketing, will manage communication and marketing.

KLOS’s current program director, Keith Cunningham, will remain in the role.

Emmanuel “DJ E-Man” Coquia will assume interim music and programming duties for KXOS.

Irma Barrios will add KXOS to her existing duties as General Manager of KWHY-TV.

Meruelo Media operates L.A. television stations KWHY 22 and KBEH 63.

7/18 Update: A day after closing, Meruelo Media announced that it flipped the format on 93.9 KXOS to Cali 93.9, Reggaeton y Mas!
The company released a new logo for the station, which will be “completely bilingual” and has started the process of changing the station’s call letters from KXOS to KLLI to match the new format.
