Espuelas returns to Univision in LA radio revamp

Fernando Espuelas KTNQ

Fernando Espuelas returns to Univision as part of a programming revamp of the company’s L.A. talk radio station KTNQ 1020-AM.

“El Show de Fernando Espuelas,” which aired nationwide for seven years, was one of several original AM talk shows canceled by Univision Radio in 2015. At the time, the radio network restructuring led to local stations airing “targeted local content” that was mostly paid programming.

There have been some original shows slowly added to the local station lineup over the past couple of years, such as “En Boca de León,” which debuted in 2016.

Espuelas’ show will be shorter than its previous run – just one hour, not two – and will air at 3 pm PT in a later timeslot than before. (At the time of its cancellation, the show aired from 2-4 pm ET/11 am-1 pm PT.)

Univision Los Angeles announced today the new programming slate for KTNQ 1020-AM, which will cover sports, community empowerment, politics, health and personal finance.

L to R: Carlos Márquez and Julie Stav; Gabriela Teissier and Gustavo Vargas.

This is KTNQ’s new lineup:
