Lucio Villa promoted to design editor at The Washington Post

Lucio Villa

Lucio Villa is moving into management. He has been promoted to design editor at The Washington Post.

In his new role, he’ll help with digital storytelling on long and short-term projects, collaborate across the newsroom and mentor designers, while leading his own projects.

Villa arrived to the Post a year ago from the San Francisco Chronicle, where he had been an interactive producer.

In announcing the promotion, creative director Greg Manifold and deputy design director Brian Gross wrote Villa “has impressed us with his ability to elevate projects, his unflappable demeanor and his imaginative approaches” on a series of projects.

Before joining the Chronicle in January 2016, Villa was a developer at Hoy in Chicago. He previously spent several years as a freelance photojournalist. His work has appeared in La Opinión, The Chicago Tribune, Chicago Catalyst and EFE.
