Ortiz lands first news director role at KFSN

Martin Ortiz

Martin Ortiz has started his first job as news director at KFSN.

The move marks his return to the ABC O&O in Fresno, as well as a promotion within the Disney-owned television station group.

“I grew up watching Action News and then started my career here. Returning home to help lead the Action News team is a true homecoming. I’m excited to help tell the stories of Central California,” he tells Media Moves.

Ortiz was most recently executive producer for the weekday editions of ABC7 Mornings and Midday Live (11AM) at KGO-TV in San Francisco. He worked his way up several news producer roles since joining the station in 2012.

He previously worked as a news writer at KTVU.

Ortiz began his journalism career as a weekend assignment desk editor and associate producer at KFSN in 2007, moving up to news producer, before heading up to the Bay Area.
