Telemundo correspondent Guadalupe Venegas crosses over to NBC News

Guadalupe Venegas

Guadalupe Venegas is moving over to NBC News as a Los Angeles-based correspondent.

He is currently a Noticias Telemundo correspondent since May 2019.

His last day with Telemundo is February 7 and he starts with NBC the next day.

Before jumping to the network, Venegas was anchor at Telemundo San Diego.

Below is a memo from David Verdi, SVP for global news gathering at NBC, announcing Venegas’ arrival to the team.

All,

I am pleased to share that Guad Venegas is joining NBC News as a correspondent. He’s been part of the NBCUniversal family for the past seven years, most recently as a correspondent for Noticias Telemundo. He will be based in Los Angeles, reporting across all NBC News and MSNBC platforms.

Guad has already made his Nightly News debut this past year, contributing to the show’s first bilingual broadcast. He reported alongside our own Gadi Schwartz on the challenges of Covid-19 tracing and testing for California farm workers.

At Telemundo News, he covered a wide range of stories, including the 2020 presidential election and the protests that followed the killing of George Floyd. He also notably crossed the Texas border into Mexico to cover the virtual hearings for asylum seekers trying to enter America.

Previously, Guad was a sports anchor for NBC Deportes, anchoring Noticiero Nacional Fin De Semana and NBCUniversal’s sports highlights show, Escena Deportiva. He also covered the London Olympics in 2012 with Telemundo Deportes.

A three-time Emmy winner, Guad graduated from San Diego State University with a double-degree in communications and Spanish arts and letters. He is fluent in both English and Spanish and is a duel citizen of the U.S. and Mexico.

Please join me in welcoming Guad, who officially joins the NBC News team on Feb. 8
