Lilia Luciano has been named a CBS News correspondent, effective immediately.

An Emmy and Murrow award-winning journalist, she’ll be based in Los Angeles.

Luciano had been a freelance correspondent for the network since March 2020, covering major stories on the West Coast, including the COVID-19 pandemic, Black Lives Matter protests in Portland, immigration at the border and wildfires in Oregon and California, with her work featured across CBS News’ broadcasts and platforms.

Luciano was previously an investigative reporter at KXTV, the ABC affiliate in Sacramento from 2016 to 2019. In 2018, she was the chief investigative correspondent for Discovery Channel’s limited series “Border Live,” telling immersive stories about the people who live and work along the U.S.-Mexico border.

She also worked as a freelance host and contributor for VICE and was an NBC News correspondent, reporting in both English and Spanish for NBC Nightly News, The Today Show, MSNBC, The Weather Channel, CNBC and Telemundo.

Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Luciano started her broadcast career at Univision in Miami.
