KRGV Channel 5 News has hired Brandon Benitez as its new weekend sports anchor.
He will also be reporting for the station’s 6 and 10 pm weeknight newscasts.
He arrives to the Rio Grande Valley ABC affiliate from California.
Benitez previously spent a year as weekend sports anchor and reporter at KHSL/KNVN Action News Now in Chico.
Before that, the Cal State Northridge graduate was a sports news associate at L.A. duopoly KCBS/KCAL from September 2018 to August 2019.
