Telemundo will soon have an affiliate in Cleveland.
Gray Television’s CBS affiliate WOIO-TV announced it will launch Telemundo Cleveland January 1, 2022 on its sister station WTCL, channel 6.1.
Aimed at catering to the city’s growing Hispanic population, station VP/GM Erik Schrader announced Telemundo Cleveland will debut the market’s first Spanish-language local television newscasts, weekdays at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m., using the resources of 19 News.
The new station will go on the air on a robust international sports competition year.
Telemundo Cleveland will air the Spanish-language broadcasts of Super Bowl LVI, the Winter Olympics, and the biggest event for Spanish-language sports fans: the FIFA World Cup.
