Telemundo Phoenix names Gilberto Dorrego anchor, adds MMJs Galavis and López Álvarez

Gilberto Dorrego is joining Telemundo 39 Phoenix as lead weekday anchor, beginning today at 5 pm.

The station is also adding two new members to the Noticiero Telemundo Arizona team.

José Ángel Galavis and Javier López Álvarez join the station as multimedia journalists.

An award-winning journalist, Dorrego was most recently an anchor and political reporter at sister station Telemundo 20 San Diego.

He previously spent nearly three years as an MMJ and anchor for Telemundo 39 in Dallas-Fort Worth. He began his career as a reporter for Univision 23 Miami.

Galavis arrived to the Phoenix station from Telemundo Utah, where he was a photojournalist and reporter for more than three years. He’ll be covering the Phoenix area.

A 30-year news veteran, López Álvarez came on board from Telemax Sonora in Mexico, where he held various roles, including photographer, reporter, and anchor. He’ll be covering the Tucson area.
