July 23, 2024 by Veronica Villafañe

Romina Ruiz-Goiriena has been promoted to Managing Editor for Politics, White House, and Storytelling at USA TODAY.

She’ll be leading the politics team as the 2024 election season gains momentum.

She was most recently White House editor, and the first Latina to serve in that role at USA TODAY, driving coverage of political news.  Ruiz-Goiriena joined the company in 2020 as national housing and social services reporter.

Ruiz-Goiriena previously spent a year as an investigative fellow at the Miami Herald.

Fluent in four languages, she has contributed to various publications and worked as a foreign correspondent in Guatemala City for CNN and The Associated Press, in Cuba for Spain’s El País, and as an assistant news producer in Paris for France 24.
