Ana Valdez has joined KWCH 12 News, the CBS affiliate in Wichita, as a multimedia journalist.
This is her first on-air TV job after completing her master’s degree in bilingual journalism from the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY.
Valdez previously spent a year as a bilingual reporter for the Mott Haven Herald, covering the Hispanic community in the South Bronx in both English and Spanish. During her time in New York, she also interned for WNBC and Telemundo 47, covering the Tri-State area.
A native of La Paz, Bolivia, Valdez returns to Kansas, where she attended Emporia State University and obtained her bachelor’s degree in communication and sociology with a minor in journalism.
During her time at ESU, she helped launch and anchor the first Spanish newscast for Emporia’s local radio station KVOE-AM 1400.
