John Paul Barajas promoted to weekend evening anchor at KSAT

April 23, 2025 by Veronica Villafañe Leave a Comment

John Paul Barajas has been promoted to weekend evening anchor at KSAT, the ABC affiliate in San Antonio owned by Graham Media Group.

He steps into the role previously held by Courtney Friedman, who moved to the weekday anchor desk earlier this month.

Barajas, who joined KSAT as a reporter in June 2021, shared the news on social media: “It’s a position that has been held by so many amazing journalists and KSAT greats. I’m excited about this next chapter and added responsibility which truly is a privilege.”

Before joining KSAT, Barajas worked as a reporter and anchor at KRGV 5 in the Rio Grande Valley.

He comes from a family of TV news journalists: his brother, Bill Barajas, is a weekend anchor at KPRC in Houston and previously worked as a reporter at KSAT. His father, Mike Barajas, a longtime TV news anchor at KRIV, has been an anchor at News 92 FM in Houston for over 14 years. And his cousin, Erik Barajas, is a weekday anchor at KTRK-13 in Houston.
