Orlando Peña Aurquia joins KSTS Telemundo 48

Orlando Peña Aurquia joins KSTS Telemundo 48 as its new meteorologist and climate reporter.

He will provide weather forecasts and climate coverage for the Telemundo-owned Bay Area station’s newscasts.

His first day is today Monday, April 14.

Peña Aurquia most recently spent a year as a meteorologist for Univision San Antonio, also covering the Austin market. During his time at the station, he also produced environmental and climate stories.

He began his on-air career at N+ (formerly Noticieros Televisa) in Mexico City, providing weather reports on linear and digital platforms from 2021 to 2023.

Before transitioning to television, Peña Aurquia worked as a meteorologist in his native Cuba for the Institute of Technologies and Applied Sciences (InSTEC) at the University of Havana from 2015 to 2017. He later moved to Mexico, where he earned a master’s degree in earth sciences from UNAM.
