NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises has promoted two news executives.
Marta Planells has been named VP of Digital News and Streaming, advancing from her role as Senior Director of Digital News. She will oversee digital, social media, and mobile app content for Noticias Telemundo and the 24/7 news streaming service Noticias Telemundo AHORA, which she helped launch in 2024.
Since joining Telemundo in 2019, Planells created Noticias Telemundo’s social first franchise Politi¿QUÉ?, started Noticias Telemundo’s TikTok account, which now has 9.3 million followers, and led her team in producing multimedia investigative specials.
Before Telemundo, she worked at Univision as a digital producer for “Primer Impacto.” She was previously a politics reporter for El Mundo and Agencia EFE in her native Spain.
Leticia Herrera has been promoted to SVP of News and Special Events, moving up from her role as VP of News Specials. She will oversee breaking news, major events coverage, and new content initiatives across Noticias Telemundo’s broadcast and digital platforms, while also leading collaborations with NBC News.
Herrera has directed coverage of election nights, political conventions, debates, and town halls. In 2023, she secured Noticias Telemundo’s exclusive interview with Pope Francis, the first sit-down interview he granted to a U.S. news broadcaster. She also contributed to the 2020 “NBC News X Noticias Telemundo Reports” initiative, where bilingual reporters produced stories for both networks.
She previously served as executive producer for the network’s weekly political show “Enfoque” and spent over a decade as executive producer of “Noticias Telemundo.” Herrera began her career at WSCV Telemundo 51 in Miami.
