Gilberto Dorrego named investigative reporter at Telemundo 49 Tampa

Gilberto Dorrego is joining Telemundo 49 Tampa as an investigative reporter.

He will lead the station’s consumer investigative unit, “Telemundo 49 Responde” and contribute in-depth reports to “Noticiero Telemundo 49.”

He is scheduled to make his on-air debut later this month.

Dorrego arrives in Tampa after spending nearly a year at Telemundo Arizona as lead anchor and reporter. Following his departure from the station in February, Paola Morales and Ana Mafud took over as  newscast co-anchors.

He was previously an anchor and reporter at Telemundo 20 San Diego, and has also worked as a multimedia journalist and anchor at Telemundo 39 Dallas-Fort Worth.

Dorrego began his career at Univision 23 Miami after earning a journalism degree in his native Cuba.
