Jaime Cárdenas joins AOL as audience development editor

May 29, 2025 by Veronica Villafañe Leave a Comment

Jaime Cárdenas has joined AOL as audience development editor.

In his new role, he will oversee content creation and engagement across AOL’s social media channels, and collaborate with leadership on social media strategy.

He will be working remotely out of Nashville.

“AOL is an iconic brand and I’m excited about the opportunity. There is a lot of momentum on this team and I look forward to collaborating with my talented colleagues on all things social media and audience engagement,” Cárdenas shared on social media.

AOL operates under the Yahoo! Inc. umbrella.

Before AOL, Cárdenas was director of social media at Hearst Newspapers for two years, working with newsrooms including the San Francisco Chronicle, Houston Chronicle, and San Antonio Express-News. During his tenure, Hearst Newspapers saw increases in social media traffic, as well as record numbers in impressions, engagement, video views, and growth on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.

Prior to Hearst, Cárdenas spent six years at Gannett in various roles, starting at The Tennessean as a digital strategist and later serving as social media strategist for Gannett Local News, working closely with editors.
