RTDNA kicks off to better numbers

April 12, 2010 by Veronica Villafañe

I’m blogging from the convention floor of RTDNA (Radio Television News DIGITAL Association) in Las Vegas – the former Radio Television News Director’s Association (RTNDA).

It looks like this may be the last year the association holds its convention in conjunction with NAB. They had previously announced they will be partnering with SPJ in 2011, doing a joint convention in New Orleans in September. RTDNA won’t totally disappear from the NAB floor next year. They will be producing a one-day program of news content sessions.

This year’s program is loaded with digital news sessions – from social networking to tech trends to digital tools of the trade to be used in the gathering of news.

Mark Kraham, chair-elect of the organization has confirmed registration was up by at least 200 people last night compared to last year, with more people expected to sign up on-site. I’ll be getting some more numbers later. The exhibit floor is a sad sight, though. Just 14 booths.
