Univision and Telemundo Upfronts

May 24, 2010 by Veronica Villafañe

Univision and Telemundo networks unveiled their programming line-up for the 2010-2011 season.

Univision will add 20 new shows throughout its 3 networks – Univision, Telefutura and Galavision. Mostly telenovela heavy with Televisa programming, the line-up includes several reality and entertainment shows produced or co-produced by its new Univision Studios unit. Some of these are “Eva Luna” produced in collaboration with Venevision, reality show “Mira Quien Baila,” a celebrity dancing competition, and a survivor-type show called “Desafío: La Gran Batalla.”

Telemundo, on the other hand, has added a prime-time hour to its schedule from 7 to 8 pm, opening the slot for “A corazón abierto,” a Spanish-version of “Grey’s Anatomy.” Other programming scheduled for the new season are 3 new Telemundo studio-produced novelas, including “La Reina del Sur,” based on the best-selling book by Arturo Pérez-Reverte. The network announced it will stream its telenovelas with English subtitles online.
