Cantú replaced in Austin

Fred Cantu

Fred Cantú anchored his last 5 and 10 pm newscasts on Telemundo 42.2 last Friday. According to Austin360’s TV blog, Fred’s departure from the anchor desk was announced on the air by his co-anchor, Karla Leal.

Fred, locally known as “Uncle Fred” and the “Gadget guy,” will continue to do tech news segments for KEYE, Austin’s CBS affiliate.

 

Diego Muñoz

Diego Muñoz, who was previously at local Univision 62, replaces Fred. He had been with Univision in Austin since 2002. He started his new gig as anchor at Telemundo on Monday.
