Anchor changes at KVEA

January 12, 2011 by Veronica Villafañe

Ana Patricia Candiani

Telemundo execs have decided to re-arrange the anchor line-up at their L.A. station. Starting Jan. 31, Ana Patricia Candiani will be KVEA-52’s new 6 pm weekday anchor. She will also contribute as investigative reporter for “En Contexto,” which airs at 11 pm. Ana Patricia was most recently freelancing at Univision Network. She previously spent 14 years at Telemundo/Telenoticias as a news anchor/reporter.

Azalea Iñiguez

In order to make room for her, KVEA is bumping the current anchor, Azalea Iñíguez to weekends – a job switch I’m told she has not accepted. Sources tell me that she’ll go back to reporting. Azalea has been with KVEA since 1997. She has been the 6 pm weekday anchor for the past 2 years. Before that, she was the early morning anchor since 2001.

Maria Garcia

In order to offer Azalea the weekend anchor gig, they’ve pulled Maria García off that shift. This weekend is scheduled to be her last one, after more than a year on the job. She will be returning to weekday reporting.

Maria has been with the station more than 10 years.
