The family of former L.A. Times journalist and KMEX News Director Rubé n Salazar has donated his archives to the University of Southern California Libraries.

The collection includes personal and professional items – photographs, correspondence, news clippings, draft manuscripts, and his briefcase, documenting his life from his birth in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, in 1928, to his untimely death in 1970, while covering the National Chicano Moratorium march against the Vietnam War in East Los Angeles.

The archives are a gift from Salazar’s children Lisa Salazar Johnson, Stephanie Salazar Cook, and John Salazar.  The University announced it will put the collection of items on public display.

In February of this year, a report ruled his death an accident.
