Escobar resigns to Telemundo post

Ramón Escobar, named Executive Vice President, Telemundo Network News in February 2010, resigned today.  Alfredo Richard, SVP of Communications for Telemundo, said Ramón decided to leave to “pursue other interests.”

There is no definitive date for his last day with the network.  Ramón will continue to work on current news projects and stay on board as long as needed to help lead a smooth transition.  “He’s very accomodating and we’re very grateful to him,” says Alfredo.  “He helped Telemundo news grow in the past two years.”

Last month, Telemundo announced it would invest heavily in local news, adding more than 1,000 hours news and public affairs programming to its stations by the end of January 2012.

In recent months insiders speculated Ramón would not remain at the network for long after Don Browne’s exit in June.
