Univision adds English closed captioning to primetime novelas

January 25, 2012 by Veronica Villafañe

Univision announced it plans to offer all of its primetime novelas with English-language closed captioning on CC3.

The CC3 addition will apply to the Univision’s complete Monday through Friday 7 to 9 pm block, coinciding with the premiere of “El Talismán,” on January 30 at 8 p.m. ET. The novela is the newest production from Univision Studios and Venevision.

The other two novelas that will have English closed captioning are “Una Familia Con Suerte” and “La Que No Podia Amar.”

Telemundo has offered CC3 English captioning on its novelas since 2002.

Univision comes in quite late into the English CC3 arena.  Telemundo started providing the service almost 10 years ago.

The incredibly successful “El Clon,” the original novela produced by Brazil’s Globo TV, aired on Telemundo in 2002 with English closed captioning on CC3.
