Garcia hired at KENS

June 13, 2012 by Veronica Villafañe

Mat Garcia is moving to San Antonio.  He has been hired at CBS affiliate KENS-5 to replace anchor Fred Lozano, who is retiring later this month, after more than 35 years working for the San Antonio station.

Mat joins the KENS 5 Eyewitness News This Morning team.

He was most recently morning anchor at KOCO, the ABC affiliate in Oklahoma City, where he has been since January of 2010. In April of this year, KOCO did some talent changes and took him off the morning anchor chair.

Mat previously worked as weekend anchor for KWGN-TV in Denver. Before that, he was a morning reporter and fill-in anchor for WPIX-TV in New York City.
