NBC News and Telemundo partner for political coverage

June 14, 2012 by Veronica Villafañe

NBC News and Telemundo Media announced both networks are officially joining forces to deliver “an unprecedented number of hours of political coverage in English and Spanish.”

Under the signature political banner “Decision 2012,” NBC News and Telemundo will combine news gathering assets and  journalists.

NBC News will count on Telemundo to “contribute its expertise and reach within the Hispanic community.”

Both networks will be teaming up for convention coverage as well as town halls and monthly polls.

Alexandra Wallace, Senior Vice President at NBC News, will be working closely with Alina Falcón, Executive Vice President of News and Alternative Programming at Telemundo Media, to execute “Decision 2012.”

Wallace, who has been overseeing the integration of NBC News and Telemundo News for the past year, was named Senior Vice President of NBC News in December 2008.

The big question is… why haven’t they done this before?

NBC has owned Telemundo for the past 10 years.
