There’s a new network making its way into the Spanish-language sports arena.  Time Warner Cable Deportes, the first regional Spanish-language sports cable network, based out of Los Angeles, is set to launch on October 1, 2012 and they’re preparing to make a big splash.

Pablo Urquiza is the Vice-President of TWC Deportes, which has quietly been attracting top sports talent to join their team.

The network is scheduled to announce today that they’ve recruited Martín “El Pulpo” Zúñiga, former goalie for Chivas de Guadalajara and part of the Mexican National Team that participated in the 1997 Copa América.

Also joining the TWC Deportes roster:  sports anchor Ricardo Celis, who most recently hosted “Contacto Deportivo” on Telefutura; Elmur Souza, who joins the network from Fox Deportes; and Enrique Gutiérrez, former Univision KMEX-34 sports anchor.

Earlier this year, Francisco Pinto and Adrián Márquez became the Spanish-language announcers for the Lakers and part of the new network’s talent pool.

TWC Deportes will broadcast all local Lakers and Galaxy games entirely in Spanish.
