Univision teams up with IB to monetize its TV websites

October 9, 2012 by Veronica Villafañe

The Univision-IB deal to monetize UTG station websites begins Oct. 15, 2012.

Univision Communications Inc. and Internet Broadcasting (IB) have signed a multiyear agreement in which Univision Television Group (UTG) will license digital ad products and services from IB.

Under the terms of the deal, which kicks off on October 15, 2012, IB will provide its expertise in creative design and development of ad units, ad trafficking services, campaign management, ad products, digital sales training and support for all of UTG’s 62 owned-and-operated stations in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.

IB, which has worked with the Hearst and Post-Newsweek station groups, as well as newspapers and Turner, has provided a technological backbone for many local station Web sites. It’s now set to help Univision monetize inventory for digital outlets linked with its 62 owned-and-operated stations.

Univision doesn’t provide details on interactive revenues for its station group, but according to Media Post, the company saw interactive revenues come in virtually flat for the first 6 months of 2012 compared to 2011.

“This partnership will enable our television group to streamline sales operations while enhancing the quality service we provide to clients,” said UTG President Kevin Cuddihy in a statement.  “IB’s services and understanding of sophisticated ad-operations processes and software will identify efficiencies across our local footprint and help increase ROI within our business.”
