ESPN launches new social media show

January 21, 2013 by Veronica Villafañe

ESPN Deportes tonight is debuting “#Redes,” a live multi-screen social media show targeting bilingual Hispanic sports fans.

Carolina Guillén is the lead host of the new 60-minute program, which will air weekdays at 8 pm ET.  She’ll be joined by co-hosts Alfredo Lomelí and Barak Fever.

Marianela Pereyra, host of ESPNU’s Unite and LA-based TV and radio personality Chuey Martínez will also regularly appear on the show.

#Redes will gather content from around the web and monitor social trends through various digital platforms to deliver a mix of sports, pop culture news and music.

The show’s hosts will also connect with athletes and fans outside of the studio walls via Skype and other social media platforms.

The topics will be selected by using a specially designed aggregation tool to monitor social trends on the rise, track down tweets, Facebook posts, YouTube videos and photos. The information gathered online will then be part of interactive segments integrating sports with real-time social conversations.
