Meruelo Media promotes Alvarez, hires Duarte in company restructure

Meruelo_Media-logoMeruelo Media, owner of KWHY-22 in Los Angeles today announced a complete restructure of its core business and the launch of its production division, Meruelo Media Entertainment.

The company will invest over $40 Million Dollars in developing content and growing its current television distribution and station holdings.

As part of its restructuring, Meruelo Media’s television will now be led by Lino Alvarez, who is being promoted from VP of Sales to Vice President/GM of MundoFOX22 Los Angeles and MundoFOX32 Santa Barbara. Prior to joining KWHY, he was General Sales Manager for Estrella TV’s KRCA-62.

Bernarda Duarte has been appointed Vice President/GM of Meruelo Media and will lead the re-launch of the new subdigital Super 22 station, projected for the second quarter of 2013. Bernarda was most recently an executive for MundoFox and has previously worked as a Univision station manager in Tucson.

Lino and Bernarda will both be based in Los Angeles at the newly acquired Meruelo Studios and will continue to report to Otto Padrón, President and COO of Meruelo Media.
