Univision adds chief medical correspondent

Dr. Juan Jose RiveraUnivision News has signed Dr. Juan José Rivera as its Chief Medical Correspondent. He will host two weekly health segments within “Primer Impacto,” will consult on a variety of medical and scientific topics, and report on the latest medical news and breakthroughs for all Univision News programs, including “Noticiero Univision,” “Aquí y Ahora,” and “Al Punto.”

Dr. Rivera will also appear regularly on Fusion, the new Univision/ABC News English-language network scheduled to launch in the second half of 2013.

A cardiologist, educator, researcher, author and lecturer, Dr. Rivera is the Director of Cardiovascular Prevention for Mount Sinai Hospital in Miami Beach and has his own private practice. He is also an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Miami and has held similar posts at Columbia University and Johns Hopkins University.

Prior to joining Univision, he was chief medical correspondent for the Telemundo Network and an online contributor to NBC News. He has also participated in numerous radio shows and writes a weekly health column for the Spanish-language website Huffington Post Voces.
