Telemundo affiliate to launch in Indianapolis

March 6, 2013 by Veronica Villafañe

Radio One, Inc is flipping its Indy’s Music Channel station – WDNI – to Spanish.  Telemundo Indy will start broadcasting on channel 19 next Monday, March 11, making it the only Spanish-language broadcast station in the market.

LIN TV Corp previously had the Univision affiliate, but opted not to renew the contract with the network, which expired Dec. 31, 2008.

The over-the-air channel will also be available to all subscribers of Comcast, Brighthouse and AT&T U-verse.

According to Chuck Williams, Telemundo Indy’s General Manager, the station will eventually have locally produced news.

Williams also serves as Vice President and Market Manager for Radio One’s four Indianapolis Radio stations (WNOU FM, WHHH FM, WTLC FM and WTLC AM).

Radio One, Inc., which owns and/or operates 54 broadcast stations, primarily targets African-American and urban consumers.
