Puello leaves NY1, joins Fusion

April 26, 2013 by Veronica Villafañe

After 10 years with NY1 Noticias, Maritza Puello, one of the founding members of the channel’s news team, is leaving to join Fusion as Managing Editor of Newscore.

Her last day at NY1 is next Friday, May 3. She’ll be relocating to Miami and start the new job in mid-May.

Moments ago, Fusion’s interim CEO, Beau Ferrari, sent an email to staff announcing she was joining the team.

For the past 9 years, Maritza has been the channel’s Executive Editor, managing an editorial staff of 20 people.

Maritza has experience launching new ventures.  She was hired in 2003 to launch NY1 Noticias, New York’s 24-hour Spanish language local news station, creating the project plan for the channel’s launch, which included recruiting, hiring, and training the NY1 Noticias editorial staff.

She previously spent 2 years as Project Manager of Product Development for StarMedia.com, managing staff to ensure successful launches of Spanish and Portuguese language web products.

Before that, she was a Coordinating Producer for the Fox News Channel.  During her time at FNC, she helped launch the Fox NewsEdge affiliate news service.
