Today is Dan Ponce’s first day as co-anchor of the weekday 4 and 5 am WGN Morning News shows.  The promotion comes 3 years after joining Chicago’s WGN Channel 9 as a general assignment reporter.

Before WGN, Dan quit his reporter job at ABC-7 Chicago to pursue a music career and spent a year on tour with Straight No Chaser, a 10 man a capella group he co-founded.

Prior to ABC-7, he was a weekend morning anchor and general assignment reporter at WILX-TV in Lansing, Michigan.

A Chicago native, Dan is the son of WTTW-Ch. 11 “Chicago Tonight” host Phil Ponce and the brother of WMAQ-Ch. 5 reporter Anthony Ponce.
