Schwarz leaves Univision

January 17, 2014 by Veronica Villafañe

Cristina SchwarzCristina Schwarz, Vice President of Univision Cable Networks, has decided to “step down from her current role to move back to New Jersey and be closer to her parents.”

Alberto Ciurana, President of Programming & Content Univision Networks at Univision Communications told staff about Cristina’s departure on Thursday via email.

In the message, he thanked her “for her dedication, work ethic and commitment to our audience and for her many contributions to our Company throughout her more than two decades in the industry.”

Cristina had returned to Univision in February 2012, after a 7 year absence. She had previously worked 17 years for Univision in New York in many capacities, including production and sales, her last job being VP and General Manager of WXTV-41.

A source tells me she may be taking on the role of General Manager at Telemundo’s WNJU-47, currently vacant. That information is not confirmed.
