Estévez and Álvarez debut as anchor team on WFTV

January 29, 2014 by Veronica Villafañe

Nancy Álvarez and Jorge Estévez have been paired up to co-anchor the 6 pm and 11 pm Channel Nine Eyewitness News on WFTV on Sunday evenings. They will also deliver the 10 pm news on sister station WRDQ Sunday through Thursday.

By teaming them up, they’re the first Hispanic team to anchor an English-language newscast in Orlando.

Nancy and Jorge will also report for the station’s 4, 5 and 6 pm newscasts.  They debuted as a permanent anchor team on Monday.

Both had previously worked as anchor/reporters for WFTV.

Before joining the Eyewitness News team in May of 2010, Nancy spent 3 years as an anchor/reporter at WBBH NBC2 in Fort Myers. She was previously a reporter at WKMG-TV and Central Florida News 13 in Orlando.

Jorge returned to WFTV in 2012 after working for six years as an anchor at the CBS station in Miami. He had worked at WFTV for five years before that.
