Ruiz named assistant news director at KVII

Travis_RuizTravis Ruiz is leaving KXRM Fox 21 in Colorado Springs, where he is currently Interactive Managing Editor/Social Media Manager and Technology Reporter, to take a job as Assistant News Director at KVII, the ABC affiliate in Amarillo, Tx.

Travis’ last day at KXRM is Friday, October 17. After a brief weekend break, he starts at KVII on Monday, October 20.

“Newsroom management has been my goal and I am thrilled to start my management journey back in Amarillo,” says Travis, who previously worked as an anchor at KVII from 2011 to 2013. “I am looking forward to helping KVII continue to grow its audience.”

Before diving into television, Travis was a morning show host for KWTS 91.1 FM in Texas from 2009 to 2011. He started his journalism career as a reporter/editor for The Guymon Daily Herald in 2009.
