Fusion expands AM Tonight, adds EP

December 22, 2014 by Veronica Villafañe

AM Tonight Alicia Menendez, Kim Gamble
Alicia Menéndez’s show expands to 1 hr. Kim Gamble (R) will EP starting January 2015.

One week after Fusion canceled its 8 pm primetime show “Fusion Live,” the network announced it’s expanding “AM Tonight” from 30 minutes to a full hour.

The 9 pm show, hosted by Alicia Menéndez, is currently on hiatus until after the holidays. No word yet on whether it will return to the same time slot in 2015, given the cancellation of “Fusion Live” at 8 pm.

As part of the changes, the network has hired award-winning producer, writer and journalist Kim Gamble to executive produce the show.

Kim was most recently the EP and head writer for MTV’s “Nikki and Sara Live” and has also produced for “The Colbert Report.” She starts the new job in mid-January.

At the moment, Fusion’s programming grid is pretty bare, with reruns of the same shows and specials airing multiple times during the day.
