Sánchez and Avilés to anchor new RTV6 newscast

April 15, 2015 by Veronica Villafañe

Rafael Sanchez and Candice Aviles
Candice Avilés and Rafael Sánchez will anchor “The Now Indy” starting April 20.

RTV6 will launch “The Now Indy,” a new afternoon newscast next Monday, April 20. Rafael Sánchez and Candice Avilés will anchor the 4 pm show.

The ABC affiliate says the hour-long program will focus on what’s trending by delivering a “real-time” experience. “The Now Indy” will feature news still in progress and “the big stories in central Indiana and across the country.”

A multiple Emmy, Associated Press and Society of Professional Journalists award-winning journalist, Rafael has been with the Scripps-owned RTV6 for the past 17 years as reporter and Call 6 Investigator. The AP named him Best Metro TV reporter in 2013 and 2014.

Candice, who recently joined RTV6, was previously an anchor/producer for the Scripps-owned digital video news platform Newsy. She was previously and anchor/reporter at KMIZ in Columbia, Missouri.
