Puig takes buyout at USA Today

May 20, 2015 by Veronica Villafañe

Claudia PuigFilm critic Claudia Puig has left USA Today after a 15-year run. She was one of 55 employees to take a buyout in the latest round of staff cuts at the paper. Her last day was Friday, May 15.

As she put it in a tweet, she’s “moving on 2 explore other adventures.”

Claudia says she will continue to “regularly discuss movies on public radio and video and will continue to watch, think, dream and, most of all, love movies.”

She’ll remain a Film Week Critic for KPCC-FM in Los Angeles, where she has contributed for the past 8 years.

In a farewell message on USA Today, she shared she was lucky to have had “a dream job” and thanked her readers for following her work.

Prior to joining USA Today, Claudia spent 11 years as a staff writer for the LA Times.
