June 9, 2015 by Veronica Villafañe

Mark HinojosaMark Hinojosa, laid off last month from The Detroit News, is turning to academia for his next job. He has accepted the position of Associate Professor for Convergence Journalism at the University of Missouri.

“This is an amazing opportunity to use and share 30 years of newsroom experience to help direct another generation of news professionals,” Mark tells Media Moves. “I can’t think of a more dynamic place than the University of Missouri to do that.”

He starts the new job next fall.

Mark was most recently Director of Interactive Media for The Detroit News, where he had  overseen online and multimedia content for the paper since 2008.

He previously spent 17 years at the Chicago Tribune in multiple positions, ending with his role as Assistant Managing Editor for Multimedia in 2008.
