Ugalde off anchor desk; Mendoza moves to weekend slot at KMEX

Francisco Ugalde will be replaced by Alejandro Mendoza as weekend anchor.

Francisco Ugalde has stepped down as KMEX Univision 34’s weekend anchor.

He had been the L.A. station’s solo weekend anchor for the past 12 years. His last day on the desk was this Sunday, January 31.

Francisco, who has been with KMEX since 1995, will now be working as the Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino County Bureau reporter Monday-Friday.

Station management has moved Alejandro Mendoza from the morning show to replace Francisco as the new weekend anchor, starting this Saturday February 6.

Alejandro has been the morning show’s news anchor since he joined the station in April of 2012. His departure from “A Primera Hora” also means some changes in the morning show.

Gabriela Teissier takes over Alejandro’s role as news anchor, in addition to doing weather and some interviews. Cecilia Bográn and Annabelle Sedano will continue as co-hosts of the morning show, which was revamped in June of last year.
