Carrasco named National Geographic’s CMO & SVP Global Strategy

Emma Carrasco has left National Public Radio to take on the newly created position of Chief Marketing and Communications Officer and SVP of Global Strategy for National Geographic Society.

The job places her on the senior leadership team, reporting to President and CEO Gary Knell, whom she worked with at NPR.

Prior to accepting this role, Carrasco was CMO and SVP for Audience Development at NPR since 2012.

She was previously EVP of Miami-based public relations agency República. Before that, Carrasco was VP, Global Branding and Advertising for Nortel Networks, Director of Communications for McDonald’s Corporation and Corporate Vice President of Brand Marketing for Univision in New York. She began her career at Fleishman Hillard in Los Angeles.
