Mel Meléndez has been officially promoted from Managing Editor to Editor-in-Chief of the South Florida Business Journal. He had been filling in that role on an interim basis for several months.
Since joining the Business Journal in 2013, Meléndez has been in charge of running the daily operations, supervising and editing editorial content and directing the publication’s digital strategy. He also oversaw the redesign of the weekly print edition and online website.
He previously spent 13 years at the Arizona Republic, starting as a staff writer and editor, working his way up to Assistant Business Editor and Business Engagement Editor.
Before that,Meléndez worked as a staff writer for the South Florida Sun-Sentinel and San Diego’s North County Times.
