Maynulet tapped to succeed Ramos as President & GM of WAPA-TV

December 1, 2017 by Veronica Villafañe

Javier Maynulet - Jose Ramos
Javier Maynulet (L) will succeed José “Joe” Ramos upon his retirement in 2018.

José “Joe” Ramos, President and General Manager of WAPA-TV for the past 20 years, announced he will retire in the first half of 2018.

Hemisphere Media Group, owner of WAPA-TV since 2013, has named Javier Maynulet as Ramos’ successor.

Maynulet, already on board, will be working with Ramos over the next several months to ensure a smooth transition during a difficult time in Puerto Rico, which is still reeling in the aftermath of Hurricanes Irma and María.

Maynulet, a Puerto Rican native, was most recently SVP and Chief Financial Officer of Univision Network, where he was responsible for financial reporting and planning for the company’s broadcast networks division, as well as several emerging cable networks.

He was previously VP and CFO of Telemundo Media from 2009 to 2014. Before that, he held several senior level positions, including SVP, CFO Universal Media Studios & Universal Cable Productions and earlier, as Director of Finance at NBC owned WTVJ and WSCV in Miami.
