Fernández named Operations Editor at The Washington Post

May 31, 2018 by Veronica Villafañe

Maite Fernández has started a new job at The Washington Post.  She is now Operations Editor working with the Foreign news desk.

Her first day was Tuesday, May 29.

“I’m thrilled to start my new position as Operations Editor at The Washington Post,” she tells Media Moves. “I’ve been working in digital in one way or another for close to ten years. As a digital journalist, working at The Post is like a dream come true, not only because of the quality of the journalism they produce, but also because of the company’s approach to innovation and experimentation.”

Maite joins the paper from CQ Roll Call, where she was responsible for audience engagement strategy, managed the publication’s social media accounts, and helped interpret analytics for the newsroom.

She previously worked as for the International Center for Journalists as Communications Director from 2014 to 2016 and as Managing Editor of the organization’s website IJNet.org.

She started her career as a reporter for newspaper El Observador in Uruguay, where she covered local news.
