Jorge Hidalgo

Hidalgo hired as SVP of Operations at Hemisphere Media Group

May 29, 2018 by Veronica Villafañe

Jorge Hidalgo has joined Hemisphere Media Group as SVP of Operations.

In this newly created role, Hidalgo will be responsible for Hemisphere’s technical operations with a focus on its Latin American businesses. He’ll be serving as liaison to Canal 1, a national broadcast television network in Colombia, jointly owned by Hemisphere.

Prior to his appointment, Hidalgo was a consultant to Hemisphere in its bid to secure the broadcast license to Canal 1, helping in planning and overseeing the development of network’s technical operations center in Bogota.

Hidalgo worked from 1999 to 2015 at Telemundo Network. During his tenure at Telemundo, he was Senior EVP of News and, until his exit from the network, EVP of sports. In that role, he spearheaded the effort to secure the Spanish-language broadcast rights for the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups.

Before Telemundo, he spent almost 18 years at Univision Network, where he worked his way up to Sports Director, helping secure rights to the World Cup and overseeing the production of the 1994 and 1998 World Cups.
