Mark Morales

Morales leaves Newsday for CNN

June 19, 2018 by Veronica Villafañe

Mark Morales joins CNN as a reporter covering law enforcement.

He is one of two reporters hired for the beat as the cable network seeks to strengthen its coverage of Special Counsel Robert Mueller‘s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election and any possible connections between the Russian government and Donald Trump‘s campaign.

Morales, who started the new job yesterday, will be based in New York.

He arrives to CNN from Newsday, where he was a criminal justice reporter in Long Island since 2016, reporting on the MS-13 gang and the opioid epidemic.

He previously worked as a freelance reporter covering law enforcement at the Wall Street Journal from 2014 to 2016. Before that, he spent over four years as a staff reporter for the New York Daily News.

Morales started his journalism career as a desk assistant at CBS Radio in New York.
