Telemundo 48 recruits Striker, Jr. as sports anchor

June 5, 2018 by Veronica Villafañe

Raúl Striker, Jr. has joined Telemundo 48 Area de la Bahia as weekend sports anchor.

In addition to anchoring sports for “Noticiero Telemundo 48 Fin De Semana” at 6 and 11 pm, he’ll also anchor sports for “Noticiero Telemundo 48” weekdays at 5:30 pm three times a week and report for “Telemundo Deportivo Edición Gigantes,” which airs once a month.

He moves to San Jose from Miami, where he was a sports anchor for WLTV Univision 23 until April 2017, when he was laid off in a wave of nation-wide cuts.

He replaces Juan Francisco Ramírez, who left the station earlier this year after his contract wasn’t renewed.

Striker, Jr. has also worked as play-by-play announcer for the Miami Marlins on Fox Sports Florida and on “Radio Mambi” 710 AM and announcer for the Miami Dolphins from 2006 to 2017. He was also a commentator and announcer for regular and post-season national NFL games for Univision Deportes Radio including for Super Bowl XLVI, Super Bowl XLVII, Super Bowl XLIX and the Pro Bowls for 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.

He is the son of Raúl Striker, Sr., a longtime Univision and Telemundo sports anchor in Miami.
