Mires returns to U.S. Hispanic market as BMG’s VP of creative development

Fran Mires

Former Telemundo exec Fran Mires has been hired as VP of creative development for the Broadcast Management Group, based in Miami, where she’ll open an office for the company.

She’ll be developing original broadcast, digital and OTT programming for networks and companies, focusing on the U.S. Hispanic and Latin America markets.

Mires created, launched and oversaw several Telemundo network programs in the 1990s, including the once number one afternoon magazine “Ocurrió Así” and morning show “Primera Hora,” both of which were canceled and eventually replaced with other shows. “Ocurrió Así” ran for 11 years.

“It feels great to get back to the Hispanic market, which is home to me. I began with ‘Ocurrió Así’ in 1990. It’s full circle,” she tells Media Moves.

Mires went on to help launch CBS Telenoticias, the first Spanish-language 24-hour news network for both the U.S. Hispanic and Latin American Markets, and later, MGM Latin America’s Casa Club TV, creating and producing their original series.

Most recently, she spent 12 years with Middle East Broadcasting Networks, where she created, launched and managed production operations for 3-hour daily news and information magazine “Al Youm,” airing in 22 Arab nations.
